Mildura, Victoria · Slow Living
Starting over in my 30s,
one slow and honest
step at a time.
I’m Luchie — a Filipina who moved from Cebu to regional Australia, chasing love and a new beginning. When life didn’t go as planned, I found myself rebuilding, healing, and rediscovering who I am in a quiet little river town.
Read my story
I didn’t come to Mildura
with a perfect plan.
I came here for love — and when that chapter ended, I had to learn how to stay, rebuild, and stand on my own again. That’s the part nobody talks about: what happens after the reason you moved is gone, and it’s just you, a new country, and a life waiting to be figured out.
From my past life as a digital nomad in Cebu to navigating the quiet rhythms of regional Australia, this journey has been anything but easy. But somewhere along the way, I began to appreciate the stillness. The slow mornings. The way the Murray River holds its calm even when everything else feels uncertain.
“I stopped waiting to have it all figured out — and started writing about the figuring out itself.”
Becoming Luchie isn’t a destination. It’s the process — the healing, the growth, the small daily choices to keep going and keep noticing the beauty that’s already here.
And I’m not doing this alone.
Vella, my cat, is my little emotional support — always there in the quiet moments, reminding me to slow down, curl up, and just be. She’s not impressed by productivity. I’m learning from her.
